He told me it can, that the printer should work even if it is only the black cartridge that is inside the printer. It was so frustrating that I contacted a friend that sells printers to confirm if the printer can’t work without the tricolor cartridge. Few days later, the printer stopped working keeps showing an error message that the tricolor cartridge is bad, even after removing the cartridge from the printer. If this helps, please mark this as “ Accepted Solution ” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.After I replaced the old cartridge with the new one, I was able to print and photocopy documents in black and white. It will definitely fix the issue for you. Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue.
If you are not able to scan from the computer also, then the printer needs to be replaced by contacting HP phone support. It is a hardware issue with the printer and may not let you scan from the printer. Like I said before If you are able to scan from the computer, this error should not matter.
If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you. They will be happy to assist you immediately.
